Victim Advocates International (VAI) is supporting a number of members of the Rohingya community to take litigation against Meta in Ireland. The litigation relates to Facebook’s role in spreading the hate speech that fuelled the forced displacement and genocide of the Rohingya people in Myanmar.
In 2022 and 2023, pre-litigation funding from DFF supported VAI to prepare for the litigation. A follow up litigation grant from DFF supported VAI to file the litigation on behalf of a number of plaintiffs in Ireland.
