Description

Reversing.Works will identify the most effective legal strategy to litigate data protection violations affecting platform workers engaged through intermediaries in Germany’s food delivery sector.

The research will strengthen litigation by:
· Providing evidence of GDPR violations through technical investigations.
· Clarifying enforcement pathways under GDPR and German law, focusing on the regional Data Protection Authorities (DPAs).
· Encouraging worker participation to submit complaints.

Strategic Goal

Accountability and Redress: Hold intermediaries and, where possible, platforms accountable; secure compensation for affected workers, especially migrants in informal work.

Structural Impact: Demonstrate GDPR as a tool for worker’s rights; push the German DPAs for strong enforcement in employment contexts.

Worker Empowerment: Foster collective action and legal awareness around digital rights.

Policy Influence: Inform the transposition of the EU Platform Work Directive on joint liability and enforcement mechanisms to promote just and fair work in platform economy. Contribute to the ongoing and future debates about legislative reforms needed to protect workers’ rights in the digital age.
